HOW TO SELECT A NATURAL STONE CONTRACTOR

Check with the Registrar of Contractors in Prescott for current licenses and proper license classification.

Check with our local Yavapai County Contractors Association in Prescott for current status of a contractor's license.

Contact Marble Institute of America. All members are qualified natural stone professionals who have been approved for membership based on industrial skill and commitment to service.

Work with local companies committed to your town and community in the Prescott / Quad-City Area.

Ask family, friends and neighbors for referrals.

Contact local stone/tile suppliers for recommendations.

Ask contractors for current work references and ask to see existing jobs.

Select a contractor you believe to be skilled and trustworthy, and with whom you feel comfortable.

Visit a contractor’s showroom. Ask for a tour of their facilities. See how natural stone is fabricated. Meet the employees.

Schedule appointments for a measure with remodels, or submit cabinet or floor plans for new construction jobs.

Watch if contractor is prompt, professional and communicates well. Evaluate if contractor provides you quotations for what you asked for, and provides clear estimates for all details and options.

Make sure everything you and your contractor agree to is included in your contract.

Ask your contractor to commit to a realistic timeframe for the job and plan accordingly, providing jobsite is ready, cabinets are level, and your sinks, faucets and appliances are delivered on time.

Arrange early to be present during the template so you have the opportunity to discuss all details of the installation.

Arrange early to view the slabs after template and before fabrication so you are involved in the best layout of your stone.

Request proof of liability and worker’s compensation insurance.
